A state power official is set to talk Tuesday about possible clean energy opportunities for Tehama County.

Panama Bartholomy, adviser to the California Energy Commission's chair, will speak at a special session of the Tehama County Board of Supervisors. The session will be at 1:30 p.m. in the board's chambers at 727 Oak St. in Red Bluff.

"This is an opportunity for us to begin to build a common understanding of the options that might work for this area," said Bill Goodwin, chief administrator for Tehama County.

He said Bartholomy won't be talking about any specific pro-jects or future jobs in the county; rather, he'll focus on what could be created in the next five to 10 years.

Bartholomy advises Karen Douglas, the Energy Commission's chairwoman, on climate change, land use and renewable power, according to his biography prepared for a green jobs summit earlier this year.

Also set to talk on Tuesday is Terrence Murphy, program manager for the California Statewide Communities Development Authority, Goodwin said. The authority connects local governments to low-cost financing for projects that improve quality of life.

Murphy will discuss proposed legislation expected to kick-start green businesses and jobs in the state.

"Both speakers will have expertise to share," Goodwin said.
