Clean Diesel

Clean diesel vehicles run cleaner than diesel engines from the past because of the adoption of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel as the diesel fuel standard in the United States as well as advances in diesel engine technologies that trap or clean diesel exhaust prior to emitting into the atmosphere.

Electric Vehicles (EVs)

EVs are powered by electricity stored in an energy storage device such as a rechargeable battery pack.

TECHNOLOGY
In EVs, an electric motor replaces gasoline engine used to power and turn wheels , a controller powers the electric motor and rechargeable batteries power the vehicle controller.1

TYPES

Flexible Fuel Vehicles (FFVs)

FFVs have the flexibility to run on more than one type of fuel.

TECHNOLOGY
FFVs like traditional gasoline powered vehicles have a single fuel tank, fuel system and engine. They can be fueled with unleaded gasoline, E85 (ethanol), or any combination of the two and are equipped with modified components to be compatible with ethanol. FFVs are designed to run on a minimum of 15% gasoline for cold weather starts.1

Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs)

FCVs convert hydrogen fuel to electricity using a fuel cell to power the motor.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs)

HEVs use a combination of gasoline and electric power in order to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

TECHNOLOGY

Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs)

NGVs are powered by either compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).
