Grant Opportunity for Air Quality Improvement Projects- deadline 5/3/10

The Reformulated Gasoline Settlement Fund is soliciting applications from 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for grants to fund projects designed to achieve fuel or air emission benefits for consumers in California. Grants are expected to range in size from $500,000 to $1,000,000.

In Feburay 2009 the GVC Energy Program hosted a "Green Bus Tour" from Modesto to Tulare. The bus tour was like a show and tell; exposing participants to a variety of energy related projects and companies in the Great Central Valley. The tour brought out a range of participants, from an organic walnut farmer to an Environmental Defense Fund staffer. The mix of backgrounds and experiences was the perfect recipe for interesting conversations over the two-day journey.

Chico State students have been a major force in the ‘greening' of the CSUC campus and one way that they have been able to influence the community as a whole is through the production of an annual sustainability conference. The annual "This Way to Sustainability" conference is in its 5th year featuring 4 days of keynotes and panels on all things sustainability.

AB 811 was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger in September 2008 and "authorizes the legislative body of any city, as defined, to determine that it would be convenient and advantageous to designate an area within which authorized city officials and free and willing property owners may enter into contractual assessments and make arrangements to finance public improvements to specified lots or parcels under certain circumstances.

Hi, I'm Jenni Nelson. I'm an intern in the GVC Energy Program. I work at the Sacramento Valley Office in Chico office under the guidance of the fabulous Lindsay Buckley. I'm a student at Chico State majoring in Instructional Design & Technology and Media Arts. This is my first blog for the GVC, and it is about the BayTEC Alliance, a collaborative group dedicated to improving Oroville and the surrounding region through Clean Tech industry and businesses.
